Fortune's Weave Walkthrough: Route Overview & Prologue

This Fortune's Weave walkthrough covers Dietrich's Path (Part I), the veteran-oriented route that throws you into serious combat faster than Cai's or Theodora's. Dietrich stands out with the most Paralogues of any protagonist, unique Dread Warrior Challenges, the ability to conjure Skirmish battles anywhere with Answerer's Cry, and the only Part I party that can upgrade Combat Arts.

Video Highlights:

  • Hidden Prologue scenes set in the forbidden land of Dagda
  • Master Zenon's sacrifice to create the savior using Nuwa's last heart core
  • Lore on the wall of Dagda and the birth of the Mediator
  • Context for the Battle at Kunlun late in Dietrich's route

After the Prologue, select the Lion Obelisk to begin Dietrich's route. The first chapters ease you in with tutorial battles before the structure opens up.

Route Selection

Dietrich's Path assumes familiarity with Fortune's Weave systems. If this is your first playthrough, expect tougher early battles — but also the strongest long-term customization tools in Part I.

Chapters 1-4: Dagda, Dungeons, and Dagsion

Chapter 1 - A Stranger Comes to Dagda opens with a tutorial battle vs. Bandits — defeat all enemies while keeping Dietrich and Fabio alive. Fabio can heal.

Chapter 2 - Sacrifice and Strife lets you explore the fishing town of Fina. Grab the yellow pick-up orbs, then trigger scenes with Esmeralda and Fabio before fighting Sea Beasts. Defeat the Redears, spread experience across all three characters, and note that Fortuna's Blessing unlocks on turn 2.

Chapter 3 - The Grand Megalith introduces your first real dungeon, Heretics' Cave.

The chapter ends with the Battle vs. Saint Katarina: victory shifts to defeating Anatolia partway through. Avoid standing in sand — it lowers your Avo stat — and keep Fabio out of danger.

Chapter 4 - Brute Force brings you to Dagsion with a heavy tutorial stretch: Answerer's Cry (Skirmishes drop Magic Echo Stones), recruitment with Gifts (adding Yang Jie), and Combat Art upgrades at Smyrnos's Temple.

Missable Scenes

Optional scenes pulse slowly on the map and can be easily missed. The Shrine of Causality pedestal tracks which scenes you've seen — check it every chapter. In Chapter 4, see the Inn scene with Esmeralda and the Mikaela scenes near the Arena and shopping area.

The chapter battle, Qualifier: Thundercloud Knights, requires defeating Benditz. Split into two teams moving clockwise and counter-clockwise, use magic against armored units, topple pillars to slow chariots, and grab the Zanbato (SE chest) and Iron Shield (NW chest).

Chapters 5-8: Free Time, Challenges, and Cetus

Chapter 5 unlocks Arena training (free, weekly), class upgrades (Dietrich auto-classes to Gladiator), and Dietrich's signature Dread Warrior Challenges — one-on-one duels rewarding Gold, Renown, and a new Combat Art. All Dread Warrior Challenges end on 11/24.

How Time Works

Days split into four Turn blocks. The clock only advances when you perform Turn-costing actions — resting at the Inn costs a Turn, but feeding the Pale Raven, praying, Arena training, and Inn meals do not. Never stress about the running clock.

Chapter 5's Hannibal's Trial requires pulling all levers within 10 turns. Send Io and Yang Jie left, Dietrich and Fabio right, and ignore Elephant Riders (undamageable until both switches are hit — knocking them out weakens Hannibal).

Chapter 6 introduces the Vandahl Trading Company and the Blacksmith. Buy specialty weapons — Halberd (Raivo Port), Flyssa (Callianeira Port), Ji (Port of Pandora), Hammer (Grand Aragon) — to handle armor and cavalry. The Silver Knights qualifier is won passively: let enemies come to you, and watch Theodora's scripted HP loss from Bursts.

Chapter 7 adds Teach Secrets, copying Dietrich's Combat Arts to other units for Magic Echo Stones. Bring cavalry-effective weapons (Ridersbane, Zanbato, Ji, Halberd) for the Twin Jewels of Arago battle, and consider knocking down the Bell Tower to turn Elephant Riders into a hostile third army.

Chapter 8's hunt for Cetus the Sea Tyrant requires failing to find him at Pasha Currents, Wandering Whirlpool, and Eif Channel before the real fight in the Sea of Screams. Clear the Uncharted Isle dungeon first, then use Magic Traps to stun Cetus. The reward is the Grasitha spear — give it to Esmeralda.

Chapters 9-12: Paralogues, Paralogue Windows, and Mars

Chapter 9 introduces Paralogues — optional battles with strict availability windows. Dietrich can attempt four in this chapter alone.

Secret of the Vanished Carriage (Talimun)9/17-9/19 or 10/1-10/10Cleansing Blade, 20000G, 150R
The 9/17 Paralogue

Bertrand's Paralogue is only available on 9/17 — the shortest window in the game. Do it that day; you'll still have enough turns to reach Talimun's Paralogue before it moves to Chapter 10.

Chapter 9's story battle, Battle at Kunlun, tasks you with defeating Zenon. Keep your team together moving north; you can spend an action to partially clear the sandstorm.

Chapter 10 is your deadline checkpoint for the Blacksmith class: upgrade 10 Combat Arts at Smyrnos's Temple (roughly 400 Magic Echo Shards). Do Anna's Paralogue (Golden Secret, 9/29-10/5) immediately. The Main Match vs. Anatolia requires splitting into two groups toward the N and E switches — avoid wasteland tiles, expect golems to turn hostile, and prepare for summoned Titanus units.

Chapter 11 hosts three more Paralogues (Anatolia, Cai, Orchel) plus the Battle vs. Bertrand — respect artillery ranges with ZL and avoid trap squares until you close distance. Chapter 12 is your wrap-up: recruit anyone you want for Part II, then face Mars in a two-part battle — a team phase, then a solo duel where heal spots or Physic keep Dietrich alive. Never hit The Brandisher with artillery or he summons reinforcements.

Chapter 9 Priorities

  • Bertrand's Paralogue on 9/17
  • Da Mina weapons for main team
  • Replace Javelins with Short Spears

Chapter 10 Priorities

  • 10 Combat Art upgrades for Blacksmith
  • Anna's Paralogue early
  • Advanced Class licenses

Chapters 11-12 Priorities

  • Clear all three Chapter 11 Paralogues
  • Final recruitment push
  • Stock healing items for Mars duel

Free Time Routine & Weekly Checklist

Free Time repeats every chapter. Build a routine so nothing slips — especially Turn-free actions and missable scenes.

1

Collect Town Orbs

Sweep Dagsion for yellow pick-up orbs each chapter. They refresh at chapter start and contain food, smithing items, and gifts.

2

Do Free Weekly Actions

Feed the Pale Raven, train at the Arena, pray at shrines, and share meals at the Inn. None of these cost Turns.

3

Pray on God Days

Pray on matching days for bonuses: Aurora (Mon), Mars (Tue), Smyrnos (Wed), Jurah (Thu), Kalla (Fri), Credna (Sat). Bless Levels are global across Paths.

4

Use Foresight & Recruit

Check the Pale Raven's Foresight before each chapter battle, give Gifts to recruitment targets, and watch for orange map dots marking new characters.

Subquest Tip

Completed Subquests auto-complete when replaying a route, and rewards carry over across Paths — making repeat playthroughs of Dietrich's route significantly faster.

Every Free Time Period:

  • Collect all yellow orbs around Dagsion
  • Feed the Pale Raven and check Foresight
  • Train at the Arena (weekly, free)
  • Pray at shrines on matching god days
  • See all optional pulsing-map scenes
  • Use Answerer's Cry for Magic Echo Shards

FAQ

Q: What makes Dietrich's route different in this Fortune's Weave walkthrough?

Dietrich has the most Paralogues of any Part I protagonist, unique Dread Warrior Challenges, the ability to summon Skirmish battles anywhere with Answerer's Cry, and the only party that can upgrade Combat Arts during Part I.

Q: How do I unlock the Blacksmith class on Dietrich's route?

Upgrade 10 Combat Arts at Smyrnos's Temple using Magic Echo Stones (roughly 400 shards total). Farm shards regularly through Answerer's Cry Skirmishes — don't wait until the final chapters.

Q: Does the in-game clock waste my Free Time?

No. Time only advances when you perform actions that cost a Turn. Actions like Arena training, praying, feeding the Pale Raven, and Inn meals are free, so the clock can sit still indefinitely.

Q: Which Paralogue is missable in Chapter 9?

Bertrand's Paralogue, Friendly Match with Brigid's King, is only available on 9/17 — the shortest window in the game. Plan your Turns around it; Talimun's Paralogue can wait until Chapter 10 if needed.
